Welcome to The Hills Sports High School
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
- A PROUD TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
I am extremely proud to occupy the position of Principal at The Hills Sports High School. Most parents would be aware that the tremendous record of sporting success achieved by our students in our four years as a Sports High School includes many state and national titles. In this short period, the School has produced more than a dozen national sporting representatives and receives applications for placement from students in most states of Australia in addition to some from New Zealand, England, Korea and other mainland Asian Nations, the Philippines and the Pacific Islands.
The Hills Sports High prides itself on providing a balanced education and offers a variety of outstanding academic programs. Many parents are unaware that our academic achievements have matched our widely publicised sporting successes and the School won the prestigious Western Sydney Regional Award for student performances in the Year 8 ELLA tests in both 2005 and 2006. This award is based on the value added to students between the Year 7 and 8 ELLA tests. Students continue to perform with distinction in State, Australian and International subject competitions in English, Maths, Science, Business Studies, Geography and Legal Studies. They also continue to do well in major debating, drama, mock trials and other cultural competitions and festivals.
The recent School Certificate and Higher School Certificate results continued our tradition of excellence with some outstanding individual performances and more than 72% of our students adding value to their achievement. More than 34% of our HSC students received a first-round university offer to the course and university of their choice and this adds to our students’ recent successes in winning the state-wide NSW Board of Studies Alan Broady Award (for the integration of design and materials) and the Jim Anderson $5,000 Scholarship for study at the University of Western Sydney.
The Hills Sports High provides all students with maximum opportunity to achieve both their academic and sporting goals. No longer will education have to be sacrificed to ensure sporting success.
